Welcome to the Grateful Heart Movement. This website is for you. The purpose of the Grateful Heart Movement is to teach people to celebrate what is good in your life and to look at the world with gratefulness, appreciation and possibility. Whether you have a little or a lot, there are things to be grateful for. This is an invitation to open your heart to experience and share love and happiness with yourself and others. Take what speaks to you and integrate it into your life.
With everything that comes at you in life, the easy default is to get sucked into looking at things negatively and believing the worst. The brain’s amygdala wants you to look at everything wrong in the world and view it emotionally rather than logically. It takes mindfulness to choose to live in gratefulness. For every situation that presents itself, you have the opportunity to choose how you view it and how you deal with it. Each of us can choose to turn things around and celebrate what is right, what is good, what is working, what is beautiful, what is joyful, what is love.
To live in gratefulness first takes an understanding of your own current thinking. Do you look at things with scarcity (there’s not enough for everyone so I need to make sure I get my share) in mind? Or do you approach things believing there is a win-win possible in every situation? Understanding where you are now can help you create a mind-set of gratitude. Then, look at others such as Mother Teresa, Oprah Winfrey, school teachers, and community volunteers who have served as great role models for the next step in creating a grateful heart mind set. Take the action to give of yourself to others.
So how does it work?
Live … commit to live inside your grateful heart. Promote goodwill, inner peace, joy and gratitude in yourself and look for ways to share with and benefit others.
Act…a grateful mind-set starts with you. Act with a grateful heart and share your gratitude with others to multiply the impact. Approach every interaction with an intention to promote an attitude of gratitude.
Express…journal what you are grateful for each day for two minutes. Share with at least one person daily what you appreciate about them. Do a random act of kindness each day for someone in need.
Live…Act…Express…Do the above three things for 90 days and see how your life transforms. When life happens, reach for gratefulness as it is nearly impossible to be in negativity when you are truly grateful. We hope you all will open your hearts and join this amazing journey in gratefulness.
Gratefulness is not a one-time thing that you do and then you’re done. It’s an ongoing process that opens up new worlds of opportunity in work, love, friendships, service and humanity.
